| 10 years ago I started painting with a group of 60 people on a rooftop in Koregaon Park. I was participating in the Master Painter Training in Poona which is led by Meera Hashimoto. She is a fabulous artist from Japan and founder of the School of Art and Creativity in Oshos commune. Click here to view my Resumé... Strong emotions are triggered in this process of painting. Forms and colours are appearing and disappearing. We are digging on the handmade paper throwing litres of colours on the same sheet. It deepens the experience of uncontrollable happening and is so stimulating that the colours keep running in front of my closed eyes in the evening meeting, our meditation where we sit with the rest of the commune's participants to relax and quiet the mind. After a month of turning inside out our guts, hearts and untouched feelings paintings are being created like Phoenix rising from the ashes or a lotus flower growing out of the mud. Surprise! Wonder! Relief! Painting is such a birth. Sitting here in my home in Koregaon Park No 84 the cicadas just started with their evening song, drops are falling as the wind touches the wet leaves from this lush garden around me. |
